THE BAY RUN WALK .........
Dear Pippa, Moira, Kate, Linzi - who walked todayand Lynne who joined us for the morning walk.I copied the following snippet for us because of all the suburbs we didn't notice on the way: The Bay Run Fun Run by the way takes place next weekend.
"The Bay Run is a popular pathway that encircles much of Iron Cove and is located in the inner-western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. The Bay Run is particularly popular with joggers, walkers and cyclists who enjoy the pleasant waterside scenery whilst participating in exercise. It is 7 kilometres long and passes through the suburbs of Rozelle, Lilyfield, Haberfield, Five Dock, Rodd Point, Russell Lea and Drummoyne. The Bay Run provides excellent views of Iron Cove for its entire course as it constantly hugs the shoreline. The Bay Run plays host to the annual Bay Run fun run, a community event that brings people together in the name of health, fun and exercise."
Earlier, as Pippa drove to our parking spot I spied Lynne, my co-Grandmother taking my/our Grand-daughter to school. She declined the yelled invitation to join us for coffee later but soon afterwards she suddenly happily appeared on the sidewalk as her school reading class had been cancelled thus enabling her to join us for the walk itself Lynne, I need tell you was a great inspiration for me to get a walking group going as she has done this for several years. She is partly responsible for us.
FYI: Once onto Henley Marine Drive we passed, in consecutive order:
- Montague Park,
- Nield Park
- Rodd Point
- Timbrell Park
- Robson Park,
- Leichhardt Park
- Callen Park
- King George Park
We never deviating more than 20 metres from the water. We also passed
- Dobroyd Sailing Club
- UTS Rowing Club
- Leichhardt Rowing Club
- Drummoyne Pool
- Drummoyne Rowing Club
The island in the middle of Iron Cove is Rodd Island which I think Pippa said could be hired. Some interesting Trivia -The Bay Run seems to be under general control of Leichhardt Council but the walking paths in defined areas are controlled by Canada Bay, Ashfield, Leichhardt Councils, the Sydney Harbour Foreshore, RTA control (RTA does the Bridge bit)----------oOo----------oOo----------oOo----------
